Alleged Italian mafia boss arrested in warehouse bunker

A mafia don from the ‘Ndrangheta crime family, an organized crime syndicate based in the southern Italian city of Calabria, was arrested in a bunker, announced Piero Grasso, head of Italy’s national anti-mafia directorate, on Wednesday.

Bulgaria Extradites Credit Card Fraudsters to Italy

Bulgaria extradited 19 suspected credit card fraudsters to Italy on Tuesday, said the Interior Ministry.  The individuals, all Bulgarian nationals, are accused of participating in an organized crime ring that defrauded EU card holders of over €50 million from bank accounts in EU countries.

 

Mexico: Kidnapping Ring Dismantled

Mexican Federal Police arrested five suspected members Friday of a kidnapping and extortion ring called the Los Cabezas de Puerco (Hog Heads) gang based in Mexico City.. Among those arrested was the gang’s alleged leader Eduardo Sanchez Zuñiga, 39, nicknamed “El Bla Bla.”

China: More than 1,000 Organized Crime Members Arrested

Authorities announced Thursday that in the past month they have arrested 1,081 people allegedly connected to organized crime.  The arrests are part of an expansive joint anti-crime operation by Hong Kong, Guangdong and Macao police forces.

UK: Six Arrested After Record Cocaine Bust

British authorities announced Wednesday 1.3 tons of cocaine from a luxury yacht last May. Meanwhile, Dutch police arrested six people in the Netherlands suspected of being members of an international drug trafficking ring that tried to the illicit cargo.  The seizure was the largest in the UK’s history.

Egypt: Trial of Former President Mubarak Begins

The highly anticipated trial of the Former President of Egypt, Hosni Mubarak, began in Cairo on Wednesday.  Mubarak is being charged for rampant corruption under his 30 year rule in order to amass wealth.  He is also charged with murder for ordering the mass killing of protestors during an 18 day uprising against his regime in February.

Czech Authorities Arrest Corrupt Police Officers
