Tredwell Marketing Ltd. is an offshore company based in the British Virgin Islands that was allegedly used in the tax fraud scheme uncovered by Russian anti-corruption lawyer Sergei Magnitsky, who died in prison in 2009.
Tredwell was one of several businesses that allegedly funnelled money out of Russia to a chemical weapons factory controlled by the Syrian government, according to the online news site Asia Sentinel and an investigation by Buzzfeed.
In December 2007, Nixford Capital Corp., a company set up and controlled by the Troika Laundromat, sent US$133,427 to Tredwell. Nixford was itself the recipient of at least $49.8 million from four companies involved in the scheme Magnitsky uncovered.
In 2008, Tredwell also received 35,400 euros ($54,984) from Quantus Division Ltd., a core Troika Laundromat company, to purchase furniture.
Between 2007 and 2012, Tredwell took in a total of $4 million from multiple companies that held bank accounts at Lithuania’s now-shuttered Ukio Bankas.
