Mallam Nuhu Ribadu has expressed interest in the Adamawa state governorship of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the party he previously referred to as a den of corruption, reports Sahara Reporters.
Ribadu worked to indict and jail several PDP members. In 2016, he led the federal interagency Joint Task Force and indicted several governors, including current Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, for false declaration of assets.
Despite his criticism of the PDP, Ribadu justifies his desire to join the party by arguing that every political party has both good and bad members.
Leadership reports that the key members of the PDP strongly oppose Ribadu’s candidacy. Most party elders have made their cases to Jonathan about the negative repercussions of letting Ribadu join, stating that his candidature could hinder the party’s success in both the state governorship election as well as the 2015 presidential election.
