A five-year investigation by Danish and Norwegian authorities, supported by Eurojust, has led to the dismantling of a major drug trafficking network, resulting in the sentencing of 152 individuals to a combined 1,037 years in prison, officials announced Thursday.

The joint investigation, which began in 2019, targeted a criminal organization that smuggled large quantities of drugs from Morocco through Spain to Denmark and Norway. Authorities arrested 83 suspects in Norway, who were collectively sentenced to 414 years in prison, while 69 individuals in Denmark received a combined 623 years behind bars.

Over the course of the operation, law enforcement seized approximately 9,600 kilograms of cannabis, 675 kilograms of cocaine, 355 kilograms of amphetamines, 77 kilograms of synthetic drugs, and 41 kilograms of heroin. Authorities also confiscated vehicles, weapons, real estate, luxury watches, cash, and cryptocurrencies valued at around €15.6 million ($16.8 million).

Officials emphasized the importance of international cooperation in tackling large-scale drug trafficking networks.
