Operation Cross Country is a part of the Innocence Lost National Initiative, a joint program by the FBI, the Department of Justice and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children created to fight child sex trafficking in the United States.
The operation involved 230 agencies across the country. To date the FBI has rescued more than 2,700 children and netted 1,350 convictions.
More than 10 pimps were arrested in Detroit, San Francisco, Jackson, Oklahoma City and Atlanta. San Francisco, Milwaukee and Detroit recovered the most children.
The children ranged in age, mostly between 13-17, though the youngest 9, Fox News reported.
"This operation targeted venues where girls and adults are operated for commercial sex," Ronald Hosko, assistant director of the FBI’s criminal division, told Fox. This includes places like street tracks, truck stops, casinos and hotels.
The FBI released raw video footage of the operation on its YouTube channel.
