Naskidashvili was honored for a television news investigation that looked at failed water distribution projects throughout Georgia by focusing on four villages. She found one with only two old women as full-time residents. The money allocated to bring water to their houses was used instead to buy a swing set and install it in the town square. The investigation was aired in Georgia by Maestro TV.
The Friedman Prize is awarded by Columbia University in New York and was announced during a recent week-long training that Columbia conducted in Georgia for investigative journalists.
