During the 1990’s immigration problems in Greece began to take on explosive dimensions due to political and economic crises in Southeast Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. Dealing with illegal immigration as a national security threat is a strategic option for Greece as well as coming up with ways to stop the flow of illegal immigrants.
