OCCRP Unveils Enhanced Website and Brand Refresh

Announcement

New Platform Brings Our Investigations Closer to Readers

August 20th, 2024

The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) launched a newly redesigned website, marking a significant step forward in providing a modern, visually appealing, and user-friendly experience. The new platform was developed by in-house design and web teams after extensive user research and will make it easier for readers to access OCCRP’s groundbreaking investigative journalism.

Central to the website’s redesign is a robust search function that allows users to better find mentions of a topic, person, organization, or geographical location. This improved functionality ensures that readers can quickly and easily find the stories and information they need.

"The new website and brand refresh reflect what OCCRP has become: a mature, mission-driven global organization that puts the needs of its readers first,” said OCCRP Publisher Drew Sullivan. “This is the publishing platform we need as we work to reinvent investigative journalism for the public.”

The OCCRP Product Team doubled its staff of developers, product managers, and audience engagement experts to redesign the site and focus on the best ways to directly connect with OCCRP’s growing diverse readership.

"This new website is just a starting point and will give us more capacity to experiment and integrate new components, while also helping to build the OCCRP of the future," said OCCRP Chief Product Officer Mark Nightingale. "In the coming months, we will be adding more features and content, continuing to enhance the user experience and expand our reach."

Part of a broader organizational brand refresh, the new site features bold typography and a streamlined color scheme, offering a sleek and distinctive appearance that elevates OCCRP’s “look and feel” to match the quality of OCCRP’s reporting.

“The OCCRP brand refresh isn’t just about aesthetics, it’s about creating a trustworthy and authoritative presence that reflects the impactful work OCCRP is doing and its commitment to investigative journalism,” said OCCRP’s award-winning Head of Design James O’Brien.
