Jetfield Network Ltd. was the third-biggest contributor to the Azerbaijani Laundromat, sending $104,797,268 to Metastar Invest and LCM Alliance between 2012 and 2013. Jetfield Network also received $6,498,761 from Metastar in the same time period.
Registered in New Zealand in 2009, Jetfield Networks is an offshore company with direct connections to the Azerbaijani regime and ties to a major corruption case involving a former Italian parliamentarian who prosecutors say was paid to work on behalf of Azerbaijan’s interests.
Prosecutors claim that Luca Volonte, the former chair of the European People’s Party group in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), was working to undermine a PACE report that condemned Azerbaijan for holding political prisoners and other human rights violations.
Both Jetfield Networks and Metastar Invest transferred money into the accounts of companies associated with Volonte. The path was allegedly chosen to conceal the fact that the origin of the money was another PACE member, Azerbaijan’s Elkhan Suleymanov.
