Three top government officials in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including the president of the Federation of BiH, were arrested on Friday in a crackdown on organized crime, the Prosecutor’s office confirmed.
Federation President Živko Budimir, the Chairman of the Commission for Pardons of the FBiH, Hidajet Halilović, and the Advisor to the President of the Federation BiH, Petar Barišić, were among 19 officials arrested.
The suspects were taken to the premises of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), where they were questioned by SIPA as well as the BiH Prosecutor’s Office and the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office.
Authorities searched Budimir’s offices in both Sarajevo and Mostar, according to the Prosecutor’s office.
