Earlier this month French financial police in cooperation with Swiss police raided several locations in connection with an investigation into Swedish telecom TeliSonera for bribing Gulnara Karimova, daughter of Uzbek dictator Islam Karimov.

Swedish News Agency TT has now confirmed the properties associated with the raids that took place in mid-June are those connected to Karimova including her swank villa in St. Tropez. The raid elicited a tweet by Karimova (@GulnaraKarimova) on July 3, 2013 to her 33,438 followers.

“We do not need St. Tropez” she wrote.

The villa was one of three properties raided by authorities. Karimova likely can do without Saint Tropez, because she also owns a luxury apartment in Paris and her boyfriend owns a chateau near Versailles. Those properties were also raided.

Karimova is believed to have earned hundreds of millions of dollars through TeliSonera’s business dealings in Uzbekistan.

TeliSonera maintains that it did not bribe anyone.
