El Salvador Leaves Anti-Corruption Accord with the OAS

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS) said on Monday he “deeply regrets” El Salvador’s decision to pull out of an anti-corruption commission, but accused the country of "asphyxiating" the body and "completely curtailing its investigative possibilities."

A U.S. court sentenced on Thursday a whistleblower and former Treasury Department employee to six months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for giving a reporter confidential information about suspicious money transfers worth more than $2 trillion that were flagged by banks.
