Bosnian prosecutors are investigating the theft of US$ 380,000 from the Bosnian Central Bank (CBBH). Police say that employee Nedzad Bajraktarevic has been arrested, and nine more employees suspended.

The discovery that cash was missing was made by auditing firm Deloitte. The officer for cash transactions in the vault department, 39-year-old Nedzad Bajraktarevic, subsequently confessed to stealing US$ 380,000 and the Governor of CBBH, Kemal Kozaric, contacted the police.

Bajraktarevic was arrested on Dec. 9. Today he was ordered into 30-day custody, suspected of stealing wads of bank notes in the denomination of 200 BAM (about US$ 130) three times between 2012 and 2014. The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina made the decision to detain Bajraktarevic to prevent the possibility that he could hide evidence.

CBBH, the prosecutorand SIPA declined to comment further. The investigation is ongoing.
