Now, as Lebanon suffers from one of the world’s worst financial collapses and people struggle to buy food and fuel, prosecutors are building on our findings to launch investigations into Salame, whom many blame for the country’s financial crisis. French prosecutors have opened an investigation into money laundering allegations against him, while Swiss prosecutors launched a probe into allegations he had embezzled $300 million. A U.K. member of parliament also referred to our work in reporting Salame to the U.K.’s National Crime Agency. (Salame has denied any wrongdoing.)
Join Alia Ibrahim, co-founder of Daraj.com, and OCCRP’s Senior Middle East Editor Rana Sabbagh and Senior Investigator Tom Stocks for a behind-the-scenes discussion on how they tracked Salame’s assets and the impact of their investigations.
The hour-long live webinar, moderated by OCCRP Deputy Editor in Chief James Wright, will take place on Tuesday, September 14 at 11:30 a.m. EDT/6:30 p.m. EEST. There will be an opportunity for listeners to ask questions at the end.
This event is open to OCCRP Accomplices. To attend, donate any amount here to become an Accomplice in our fight for truth and justice. Contributions go directly to funding our global network of investigative journalists.
